Henry Manelski is a planetary scientist at purdue-university (EAPS). He is lead author of a March 2026 Nature Communications paper reporting nickel-rich iron sulfides in neretva-vallis on Mars, the highest Martian bedrock nickel concentrations yet measured (~1.1 wt% across 32 rock targets). Manelski built the SuperCam LIBS nickel calibration that enabled the quantitative result and frames the find as catalytic-metal context for the early-Mars prebiotic-chemistry story.
