Luis “Lue” Elizondo
Luis “Lue” Elizondo is the former director of the Pentagon’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (aatip) and a leading figure in the UAP disclosure movement.
Background
- Former director of aatip
- Went public in December 2017 through a landmark New York Times article, exposing the Pentagon’s UAP investigation program
- His 2017 disclosure triggered the creation of immaculate-constellation as a successor/parallel program under tighter secrecy
Advocacy Work
Capitol Hill (2025)
According to src-uap-legislation-disclosure-efforts-2025, Elizondo traveled to Capitol Hill in March 2025 with chris-mellon for closed-door meetings with lawmakers including anna-paulina-luna, tim-burchett, and Eric Burlison.
Key statements:
- “Drones can do now what in 2017 we could only dream of”
- “Disclosure and transparency is a process — it’s not an event”
- Expressed confidence: “I think we’re going to see potentially even more progress this year than we have in the last seven"
"Tremendous undertaking” framing (Feb 2026)
The day after donald-trump’s February 19, 2026 Truth Social directive to release UAP/UFO files, Elizondo appeared on NewsNation’s CUOMO program and characterized the effort as a “tremendous undertaking” — predicting the eventual file volume could “dwarf the millions of documents in the Epstein files,” given 80+ years of holdings across the intelligence community, defense agencies, and the department-of-energy (src-newsnation-elizondo-pandoras-box-2026-02).
He argued Trump would need to sign an executive order to obligate compliance from agencies under his control. As of the May 8 pursue launch, the directive had operated via Truth Social + Pentagon coordination rather than a formal EO, and Release 01 contained only 162 files — well short of his Epstein-files volume benchmark.
“Now, the real hard work begins. The government has been sitting on this information for so long. There’s so much documentation right now, within our own holdings — within the intelligence community, within the defense communities, within the Department of Energy — that this is going to be a tremendous undertaking.” — Lue Elizondo (Feb 20, 2026)
Support for Other Whistleblowers
Publicly vouched for david-grusch: “a patriot… a damn fine human being.”
Publications
- “Imminent” (2024) — alleged the U.S. military runs uap-reverse-engineering programs and recovered non-human-intelligence specimens
- “Reckoning: The Unspoken Truth about UFOs and the Urgency of Now” — forthcoming (expected 2026)
Significance
Elizondo’s 2017 disclosure is widely regarded as the catalyst for the modern UAP transparency movement. His ongoing advocacy has been instrumental in shaping legislation and sustaining congressional attention on UAP issues.
On Wright-Patterson (2026)
Per src-wright-patterson-general-missing-2026-03, Elizondo told CNN that Wright-Patterson AFB is “the center of gravity for research and development and for all the spooky things that the U.S. government works on” — contextualizing the disappearance of retired Maj. Gen. william-neil-mccasland.
Near-Fatal Motorcycle Crash (March 2026)
On March 17, 2026, Elizondo suffered a near-fatal motorcycle accident approximately one mile from his Wyoming home. Swerving to avoid a doe and fawn, he lost control and sustained life-threatening injuries: traumatic brain injury, ~32 facial/cranial fractures, shattered rib cage, collapsed lung, and a severed spleen (surgically removed). He was not wearing a helmet. His wife Jennifer located him via iPhone “Find My” and is credited with saving his life. He was given less than a 50% survival probability on arrival at a shock trauma center, was hospitalized for approximately one week, and released around April 3, 2026. Investigative journalist ross-coulthart publicly shared details and urged helmet use. Elizondo launched a YouTube recovery diary series on April 4, 2026.
“For the love of God, don’t be a Lue, and please wear a helmet.” — Lue Elizondo (public safety advisory)

Congressional Return (April 2026)
Per NBC News reporting on Trump’s TPUSA tease, Elizondo testified at a Wednesday Congressional hearing — characterized by NBC as describing UAPs that are in some cases “splitting aircraft formations right down the middle” (src-trump-ufo-files-interesting-2026-04). This is the first reported public Congressional appearance after the March 17 motorcycle crash and recovery. The likely underlying hearing is the April 24 Luna transparency hearing (src-uap-transparency-hearing-2026-04); date and committee should be confirmed against primary records.
