Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is a USAF installation near Dayton, Ohio. Originating from 1917 Army aviation facilities sited near the Wright brothers, it hosts the air-force-research-laboratory and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center.
Connection to UAP lore
Wright-Patterson is central to U.S. UFO mythology, long rumored to be the destination of debris and bodies from the 1947 roswell-incident — including the legendary “Hangar 18” and the base’s former Foreign Technology Division. lue-elizondo has described the base as “the center of gravity” for U.S. government “spooky” R&D.
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) publicly called for congressional access to Wright-Patterson, Dugway Proving Ground, and Groom Lake at a 2023 hearing.
2026 news
Retired Maj. Gen. william-neil-mccasland, former commander of the air-force-research-laboratory at Wright-Patterson, went missing from his Albuquerque home in early 2026; CNN used the disappearance as a hook to revisit the base’s UFO history (src-wright-patterson-general-missing-2026-03). Authorities say there is no evidence linking his disappearance to UFO research.
